Megan's clinical specialty is in perinatal mental health and she has obtained specialized training in maternal mental health. She works with mothers in all stages of motherhood, from fertility issues, pregnancy loss, postpartum depression/anxiety, and general struggles with motherhood. Wellness Initiative offers a program geared towards maternal mental health called Motherhood Matters.
Megan also has extensive experience and training in the treatment of eating disorders, and specializes in treating eating disorders occurring during pregnancy. She also has experience providing treatment to those pursuing weight loss surgery. Her clinical work in this area includes experience conducting pre-operative evaluations and post-operative individual and group counseling.
Megan offers couples counseling, specializing in new parent couples. Navigating becoming new parents can be trying and the relationship between parents may become strained. Couples therapy can help make this transition easier to navigate.
Counseling for trauma, depression, anxiety, and general life transitions is also offered.
Megan utilizes an attachment based approach in therapy coming from a psychodynamic orientation, with a major focus on the relationship between client and therapist. She utilizes evidence based practices that are shown to be highly effective, along with the client’s input, which are used to create treatment goals that ensure progress in sessions. She also believes strongly in the mind-body connection and takes a holistic approach to wellness.
Megan obtained a BA in psychology from University of South Florida. She later graduated with a masters in clinical psychology from California School of Professional Psychology. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania.
During Megan's free time, you can find her hiking in the woods with her family and dog, reading a book in a hammock in the backyard, enjoying family vacations at the beach, snuggling with her cats or kids, sipping tea on the front porch, enjoying a long walk with her dog, or trying a new restaurant with her husband.
